Two successful run-chases saw both Warwickshire and Nottinghamshire progress to the semi-finals of The Banks Barbados T20 Cup.
In the first of the two quarter-final matches played on March 21 at Kensington Oval an unbroken stand of 70 between Rikki Clarke and Chris Woakes saw their side to a six-wicket victory over Hampshire.
Earlier, Sean Ervine made an unbeaten 81 from just 57 balls, to steer the south coast side to a challenging 162 for 5, with Liam Dawson also chipping in with a useful 44. Clarke and Woakes paced their innings to perfection to seal victory with just two deliveries remaining.
In the later match Nottinghamshire stunned the host side, Barbados, thanks to another fine all-round performance from Ben Phillips. The rejuvenated 38-year old hit 77 in a warm-up match earlier in the week and this time contributed with bat and ball, taking 3 for 25, with a spectacular caught and bowled amongst his haul, to leave a mainly youthful Barbados side with only 130 for 4 to show for their efforts.
Dwayne Smith was the only Test star to appear for the local side and he made 18 and then dismissed Neil Edwards with his first delivery as Notts began their chase.
Phillips, promoted to the pinch-hitting role of number three, hit a quick-fire 23 and solid contributions from Michael Lumb, who made 44 on his first appearance for Notts, and Riki Wessels with 31 saw their side to a four-wicket win with eleven balls to spare.
The semi-finals of the main competition will be played on March 22 and have been drawn as:
Yorkshire v Nottinghamshire
Leicestershire v Warwickshire
In the plate competition the semi-finals will be:
