Spitfire Sweethearts to cheer on Kent in one-day cricket

Kent are looking to spice up this summer’s Twenty20 Cup and Clydesdale Bank 40 events in Canterbury by forming a new cheerleader group to support the county side.

The club are holding auditions for budding, over-18 dancers at the St Lawrence Ground this week as the first step towards forming a new 10-strong cheerleading group to be named the Spitfire Sweethearts.

Dance teacher and Kent marketing officer Tanya Nicholls will oversee the auditions and is keen to bring some glamour and razzmatazz to the St Lawrence for the Spitfires’ ten limited-overs home games.

“I’m looking for plenty of enthusiasm, and they should be prepared to perform a short solo dance or cheer routine to showcase their skills,” said Tanya, who will head up the Sweethearts.
