Piolet and Allin win new deals to stay at Edgbaston

Warwickshire have secured the services of seamer Tom Allin and all-rounder Steffan Piolet on new two-year contracts.

Neither Allin nor Piolet featured in Warwickshire’s County Championship side last season but they featured prominently in their Second XI Championship campaign and have agreed new contracts which will keep them at Edgbaston until the end of the 2013 season.

Former Cardiff University student Allin made his senior appearance in the floodlit Clydesdale Bank 40 match against Surrey at Edgbaston in August.

He came in for some rough treatment from Steve Davies who took seven fours from the only two overs Allin bowled, which cost 29 runs.

But Allin, the son of former Glamorgan slow left-armer Tony Allin, bowled well enough in second team cricket throughout the season to win a new deal with Warwickshire.

Former Sussex Academy player Piolet took ten wickets in the match on his first-class debut against Durham MCCU last year and made his Championship debut in the defeat by Yorkshire at Headingley in July 2010.

His only first-class appearance this year came against the Durham students again at the Racecourse in April but he appeared in all but one of Warwickshire’s Friends Life t20 matches and half of their CB40 group games.
