Former England fast bowler Simon Jones is to return to Glamorgan on a one-month loan from Hampshire.
The deal is expected to be ratified by the England and Wales Cricket Board on Monday June 20.
It will mean 32-year-old Jones will be eligible to join Glamorgan’s Friends Life t20 squad to face Essex Eagles at the SWALEC Stadium on the evening of Tuesday June 21.
Glamorgan need Jones to fill the void left by the injured seam trio James Harris, Adam Shantry and Huw Waters.
“It’s nice to be back in Wales and always nice to be home. Now I want to do my best for Glamorgan,” said Jones.
Jones has been frustrated by a lack of opportunities this season and was left out of the Hampshire starting line-up against Glamorgan in their rain-ruined t20 match in Cardiff on June 17.
Though the loan is only for a month, Glamorgan are believed to be interested in bringing Jones back to Wales in a permanent basis from next year.
In 53 first-class matches for Glamorgan, from 1998 to 2007, Jones took 125 wickets before he moved to Worcestershire.
